For the most part I have not had a reaction to the chemo. The first week I got it, I went home, packed a bag and flew to Houston Texas to see my sister Peggy and my Mom. I felt fine the whole time. I was a little tired and slept a lot that weekend, but I never had the side effects you fear...vomiting, etc.
Last weekend was my second treatment and I went from Chemo on a 7 hour drive to Tallahassee to see my daughter at FSU. Again, I was really feeling quite well after the chemo and not tired at all. In fact, I felt a little hyped up. Turns out one of the drugs they are giving me is a steroid and that can make you feel a little hype. I had a terrible time falling asleep last Friday. In fact, ever since the diagnosis I have not slept well. I wake up ever few hours. After sleeping I don't quite feel rested, but I am not sleepy so much as lethargic.
Last night, I broke out in a rash that spread over my backside and buttocks and down my arms somewhat. It was very itchy. I told Dr Lunin about this and he seemed concerned. He believes it may be a drug reaction, but he is not sure what. We decided to stick to there current regiment and see. I would rather be itchy and kill the cancer than do something less effective and Lunin agrees I think. He called me tonight to ask how my rash was.
I am eating better than I did before the diagnosis. I have not vomited since the first chemo and food tastes good to me. We are having veal and spaghetti tonight and Yoko made apple pie for desert, in honor of Jessie's first visit home from college.
